A FRESH case of Covid-19 has been confirmed in the NHS Highland region – ending the health board area's run of four days without any positive tests.

The solitary new case was one of just 12 positive tests recorded in the past 24 hours across Scotland as a whole. There have now been 374 known Highland cases and 18,182 positive tests in all of Scotland since the pandemic began.

New Scottish Government figures confirmed that four further people who tested positive have died, taking the official Scottish death toll among confirmed cases to 2476.

NHS highland's number of patients receiving hospital treatment for confirmed Covid-19 remained flat at seven. Nationally, last night, there were 512 people in Scotland's hospitals who were receiving treatment for the coronavirus after testing positive. Of those seven were in intensive.

NHS Shetland, Orkney and Eileanan Siar each recorded no fresh cases of the virus in the past 24 hours.
