There was a unanimous response from people who took part in our latest online poll.

People are growing increasingly concerned about the rising energy costs and the growth of fuel poverty.

Last week UK energy regulator Ofgem announced that the energy price cap will rise by 54 per cent to £693.

It is expected that average energy bills are set to rise to almost £2000 when the new cap comes into effect in April – but the impact is set to be harder in the Highlands where bills are disproportionately higher.

Although the UK government has announced measures to help soften the blow, politicians and organisations predict more people in the region will face a bleak choice between eating and heating – 33 per cent of all households in the Highlands already live in fuel poverty.

We asked what you thought about the rising cost of energy? And 100 per cent of those who took part said they felt it is too high and unaffordable.

No one felt that either the Government was trying its best to help out or they were happy with the current situation.
