Ironworks boss 'pride' over amazing 14 years
The long-running saga of whether a hotel will be built on the site of the Ironworks in Inverness has ended after it was granted planning permission today.
The move means that the music venue will have to be demolished to make way for the new building
Objections from music fans mourning the impending loss of the city’s main music venue, the impact on the historic environment, petitions and members’ general dissatisfaction with the hotel’s architecture were not enough to stop the project.
But council planners had recommended approval of the plans because the application satisfied the planning regulations.
