Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross MP Jamie Ross has called the end of the Prime Minister Liz Truss's time in No 10 and the imminent power grab from Conservative hopefuls a "farce".

He said the country is "sick to the back teeth" of the apparent inability of the Conservative party to get political backing from within its own ranks and from the wider general public.

He has joined the likes of Labour party leader Sir Keir Starmer in calling for an immediate General Election rather than a Conservative party leadership, as was agreed on between Ms Truss and the 1922 Committee.

Mr Stone, a member of the Liberal Democrats, said: "The country is sick to the back teeth of this farce and will continue to live in fear of the ruling party staging yet another one.

"Everyone I speak to is saying the same thing to me - this country demands for a General Election right now.

“Boris Johnson broke the law, and Liz Truss trashed our economy.

"The right-wing junta within the Conservative party have proven time and time again they are not fit to lead our great country.

"It is time for Conservative MPs to do their patriotic duty, put the country first and give the people a say.”
