SPEEDING motorists were snared by police in Easter Ross after officers carried out checks in some of the area's towns and the Seaboard villages this week.

Police Scotland confirmed that officers had been carrying out checks around Alness, Invergordon and the Seaboard area during the week.

The crackdown was part of its ongoing Operation Cedar operation across the Highlands.

"A number of warnings and Fixed Penalty Notices [were] issued for speeding and documentation offences," said a police spokesman.
