CCTV images have been released by police investigating a serious assault in Inverness back in the autumn.

The assault saw a man attacked in Academy Street at around 3am on Sunday, November 10. Police said the victim sustained "serious injuries".

Images have now been released of a man police believe may be able to assist their investigation.

"The man in the images is described as white, around 5ft 9in and of slim build, in his early 20s and with short brown hair," said a police spokesman. "He was wearing black 'Vans' trainers, light coloured trousers and a dark, long-sleeved jumper with a zip half way down the front.

"Police Scotland request that any members of the public who recognises the male in the images or have any other information relating to the incident should contact them on 101, quoting incident number 0768 of November 10, 2019."

Alternatively, folk can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
