A man who went missing in Beauly, sparking an overnight police appeal, has been found "safe and well".

Police confirmed that David MacDonald (58) was safe shortly before 9am on Saturday morning.

Officers had earlier launched an appeal for help tracing him in the early hours of Saturday. The alarm was raised after he had not been seen since late morning on Friday in Beauly.

Confirming the appeal had been successful, a police spokesperson said: "David MacDonald has been found safe and well. Thanks to all who engaged with our appeal."
