ROSS County fans are being urged to “keep believing” as the club’s top flight status hangs by a thread in the run up to the last day of the season.
The negative economic impact on Ross-shire and the wider Highland community should County drop down a division on Saturday was acknowledged by co-manager Stuart Kettlewell following Tuesday night’s disappointing 1-0 defeat to Dundee.
Kettlewell (pictured), infuriated after an apparent clear cut penalty claim was waved away by referee Andrew Dallas, knows his side must now beat St Johnstone in Perth – and hope that Partick Thistle fail to win at Dundee – on the last day of the season simply to secure a play-off position.
Calling for accountability over questionable decisions, he said: “It’s... a case where if you’re relegated, then people lose their jobs. That’s how it works, it’s a harsh reality of the world. You never seem to get any explanation.”
Supporter liaison officer Kenny MacLennan, who literally bangs the drum for the club at matches, took to Twitter: “Still a bit numb – but we have one last push on Saturday. It would be good to see a big noisy support in Perth to back the team to three points – we have to keep believing – we have the right men in charge regardless. The future of our club is solid.”
Alness-based superfan Jailender was also philosphical: “Last night was disappointing, but we’ve got one chance left.
“The team need the fans behind them more than ever now, so let’s get a good support down to Perth.
“Get right behind the team for one final push.”
