A FAR-FLUNG plant grown on the Black Isle is set to boost the fortunes of a local horticultural society and find new homes.

Black Isle Horticultural Society will stage a plant sale on May 28 at Gordon Memorial Hall in Rosemarkie.

The event, due to run from 10am to 1pm, is an important fund-raising event for the group.their gardens, to consider donating any plants to sell.

It reported that one has already been donated. It said: "If you’re splitting herbaceous plants and can pot up any that are left over, or you can raise some extra seedlings, or you’ve got other surplus plants of any kind, they’ll be very welcome.

"We asked folk, if they had surplus plants that they could donate for our fundraising plant sale, to bring them along on the day. This rather large New Zealand flax needed to be removed from a Rosemarkie garden and was offered to us. We lifted it on Wednesday and have potted up 21 new plants. They will be available on May 28."

Barbara Pritchard wrote: "My pleasure to donate it. Hopefully it will find many new homes."
