Plans have been lodged for the siting of a shepherd’s hut for letting purposes at Inchgowan Cottage in Gairloch.

Permission is sought from Highland Council by Zoe Spyropoulos for a small bespoke-built shepherd’s hut on land which is part of the applicant’s garden.

The application says that the hut is positioned for minimal impact in a part of the garden screened by tall hedges that can’t be seen from outside that area.

The application states that it is made mainly of wood and natural materials crafted to a high standard and kept in very good repair. It goes on: “By placing the hut with a large told tree behind it, we further hope to maintain the feeling of seclusion and privacy around the caravan and to ensure it will be completely screened from the road.”

The closest neighbour is the Old Inn pub “which cannot see the hut from its position”.

The caravan-style hut will be able to sleep two people.

The applicant states: “We would expect the rustic feel of the accommodation to mainly attract walkers and artists since we also own the Solas Gallery which is also part of thus property to stay as guests.”

The hut measures around seven metres.
