A young Rangers fan ran on to the pitch in Dingwall during the Premier League match.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Finlay Brown (18) of Eardly Court, Armadale, East Lothian was attending a match between Ross County and Rangers on January 29 this year.

In the 72nd minute Rangers scored and Brown "invaded the pitch in celebration", fiscal depute Emily Hood said.

The court was told he jumped on a Rangers player's back before he was arrested.

He admitted causing fear and alarm and committing a breach of the peace.

Sheriff David Harvie told him he could have caused injury to himself or the player.

However he declined to ban him from future football matches after hearing from defence solicitor Myhrin Hill.

She said: "He has shown remorse. He acted impulsively, got carried away and wishes it had not occurred."

Brown will be sentenced on April 20 next year.

Senmtence was deferred meantime for him to show he can be of good behaviour.
