A ROSS man has made another effort to raise vital funds for mental health charity.

George Robinson (60), from Rhynie, has created an incredible tapestry made up from more than 18,000 pieces. The tapestry, a scene of a canoe on a Canadian lake, took him more than 400 hours over 40 days.

Mr Robinson has previously made two tapestries, both of which he auctioned off for charity. He chose Mikeysline as he has suffered from mental health issues in the past, and says Mikeysline's work is vital.

“I decided to do this project to raise much needed funds for Mikeysline a fantastic mental health charity in Inverness and local areas," he said. “The Provincial Grand Master of Ross and Cromarty Bro Raymond Mackeddie has Mikeysline as his chosen charity during his term of office, and along with my own Lodge Averon 866 in Alness, we decided to make it a joint venture and Provincial Grand Lodge provided the kit for me.

“The tapestry took 440 hours over 44 days to complete and contains 18,260 individual pieces of wool in it all of which had to be cut to size. Every £5 donated gets one number in the draw which will be done live online.”

Last year he raised £3500 for Mikeysline and hopes to do the same again, already raising more than £900.

Mr Robinson received a cheque for £100 from Averon Lodge and £188 from the Provincial Grand Lodge.
