The first spring fair to be held in Ardross Ark – formerly Ardross Church – has been hailed a success by organisers and those who attended at the weekend.

People enjoyed the opportunity to look around the C-listed building that has featured in the Traitors hit TV show and a wide variety of stalls set up inside and outside selling handicrafts, gifts and home-made produce proved to be very popular.

Throughout the day a steady stream of visitors called in – locals and people from further afield – many enjoying the chance to catch up with friends and partake in the delicious refreshments.

A highlight for many was the live music performed by talented young people including Archie on pipes, Eleanor, Jenny and Tilly on fiddles and a rousing set by James on guitar.

Richard Smith from the Ardross ARK group said: “I’d like to thank all the volunteers who worked so hard to make our event such a success. Thanks also to everyone who donated raffle prizes and home baking which was of the highest quality.

"The performers did a terrific job and lastly, a huge thank you to everyone who came along. We have been boosted by the success of our open day and hope to welcome more visitors to further events throughout the year.

Ardross Church was built by Mr Dyson Perrins of Ardross Castle as a thanksgiving for the recovery of his wife from a serious illness. A Deed of Declaration of Trust was presented at Edinburgh on August 1, 1899 and the foundation stone was laid by Mrs Perrins on August 17 of the same year.

Hot on the heels of the news that the BBC Traitors TV show has won a BAFTA, the church building featured in the show issued an open invite as part of its Spring Fair Gathering.

It is now run by the community under the banner of Ardross Ark whose mission is to safeguard the striking and historical building for future generations. The group is developing it as an inclusive community venue for visitors and locals.
