A NORTH town's community bonfire and fireworks night went off with a bang last Friday.

Hundreds turned out to take part in the popular event, gathering first in Dornoch town square where torches were on sale.

At 7pm, Embo piper Cameron Lyon skirled his pipes and the torch-lit procession quickly formed behind him, heading down Castle Street on its way to the bonfire site at the Meadows.

The bonfire was already burning brightly by the time the procession arrived and Herchers fun fair was in full swing, adding gaiety to the proceedings.

The fireworks from Tain bonfire could be seen in the distance and as they died down, the Dornoch display started and the night sky lit up with a myriad of colours.

Participants were quick to take to social media to say how much they had enjoyed the event and to praise organisers Dornoch and District Community Association. Pam Teska posted: "Enjoyed the display as usual. Well done to all who organised it."
