A day full of entertainment was a big hit with all ages as the Dingwall Gala returned.

Centred on the town's Cromartie Car Park there were around 40 stalls as part of day-long entertainment planned from 10am onwards on Saturday.

The event included the crowning of the gala's royal party – Prince Ross McGarry, King Brodie Macleod, Queen Jessica Fredericks and Princess Kayleen Paterson – plus afternoon performances from the InverRoss band, Highland dancers and Feis Rois, a DJ set at 6pm and a performance by Impact from 8pm.

Andrew Macivor of the Dingwall Fire Brigade Community Group, which ran this year's event, thanked local businesses and contractors who committed to helping out with the event.

"The Dingwall gala day was an amazing success with about 2500 people attending the stalls – and 250 brave souls stayed out for the ceilidh at night in horrendous weather conditions," he said.

"Dingwall folk are amazing, they took their gazebos and ponchos and danced in the rain to Impact.

"Unfortunately on safety grounds we had to call it early as the weather worsened.

"Hopefully we can get a few more volunteers to join our committee to help organise the next gala."
