AN Easter Ross community's bounce-back from the coronavirus crisis was given a major shot in the arm at the weekend with a record-breaking turnout of stallholders for an outdoor market – and some selling out before it was finished.

And such is the demand going forward that hopes are high the community markets in the Rose Garden and on the High Street in Tain will continue to flourish.

Dave Macrae of organisers Tain and District Development Trust said: "We had 36 stallholders there, amongst them crafters and fundraisers. This is the largest number we have had at a market and required a closure of part of the High Street to accommodate them all.

"Feedback from all was extremely positive saying how relaxed and safe the market felt with good sales reported by all the stallholders, some selling out before the finish time."

He paid tribute to volunteers who helped with the track and trace, refreshments, marshalling of the setting up and take down of the stalls.

He added: "I have applied for road closures for the remainder of the markets such is the demand from stallholders. Hopefully these will continue to be successful."
