A scarecrow competition organised in an Easter Ross town has certainly caught the imagination.

Tain Gala Association has organised a series of outdoor events over the summer helping to bring smiles to faces and give families something to do over the school holiday period.

People are simply invited to get involved and create their own scarecrow in their garden.

Meanwhile a summer treasure hunt invites folk to take a close look in the windows of several shops and offices in the centre of the town to find the 'odd' object.

The event will run until August 9 and forms with further details can be picked up at Tain and District Development Trust, Grants and the Post Office.

Folk can also test their powers of observation by identifying the building in the centre of town in another competition with forms also available via the Tain Gala website at www.taingala.co.uk

And a children's scavenger hunt invites kids to scan the Links and Rose Garden to find pebbles which have the Tain Gala logo on them. Once found they can be taken to the Art Room to receive a prize.

A car treasure hunt is planned for Friday, July 23, organised by Easter ross Macmillan Cancer Support fundraising brancg in association with Tain Gala.

Registrations from 6pm at the Saint Duthus Hotel with an admission of £10 per car.
