A plucky lass churned out 100 laps of Dingwall Swimming Pool for a cause close to her heart.

Sophie Stewart (11) undertook the gruelling challenge last Thursday to raise money for the Highland Hospice.

The coaches at Dingwall Swimming Club have been helping Sophie train for the effort which was in memory of her great aunt.

The Conon Bridge girl sadly lost her great aunt, Christine Macdonald, to cancer in November.

During her final seven weeks, Ms Macdonald was cared for by staff at the Highland Hospice in Inverness.

The family said it could not speak highly enough of the staff at the hospice for caring for their treasured family member.

They said Sophie had a brilliant relationship with Ms Macdonald, and wanted to thank the staff for taking such good care of her.

She previously cut her hair and donated it to the Little Princess Trust to support her aunt.

Sophie has currently raised a remarkable £1480 for the charity.
