AN Easter Ross distillery is toasting its 60th anniversary this month with a community hook-up sure to put smiles on plenty of faces.
On July 21, the Whyte & Mackay Invergordon Distillery will celebrate its 60th anniversary.
The cooperage crew has created planters from whisky barrels that the local Blooming Gardeners’ group at Barbaraville has filled with plants to be showcased at the distillery.
Distilling director Shane Healy said it was proud of its community links having founded a pipe band, links with Ross County FC, the local RNLI and Invergordon Golf Club.
During the pandemic the team worked in supplying sanitiser to the NHS and care homes and the banner Invergordon Cares.
Mr Healy said: “We are delighted to be able to support the Blooming Gardeners and their work with improving well-being. Together as a community we can make a positive difference.”
He said: "On the 21st July 2021, Invergordon Distillery will celebrate its 60th anniversary since it started. From the beginning the distillery had an ethos to help and be a central part of the community. The distillery founded a world class pipe band and a strong connection to Ross County Football Club. We continue to play our part and are very proud to support community activities including RNLI and Invergordon Golf Club events.
"In the pandemic we worked together on supplying sanitiser to the NHS, care home, front line services and community activities. We termed it Invergordon Cares as we wanted to show we care deeply about the community and the role we play. We aim to celebrate in the month of July the best of Invergordon and therefore are delighted that our great cooperage team have created planters from our whisky barrels and that the Blooming Gardener team have filled them with plants and love and are very happy to showcase them at the distillery. This is another true example of Invergordon Cares and what makes the town and people so special."
