PICTURES: A beacon at Chanonry Point in Ross-shire is lit to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Like many communities across the UK a beacon was lit at 9.40pm last night in Easter Ross.

The event at Chanonry Point, near Fortrose on the Black Isle, was to mark Her Majesty the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Organisers said that cubs, scouts and a few local residents were in attendance to watch dolphin conservationist Charlie Phillips light the flame

The special Jubilee flag was flying for the occasion and there were pipers on hand to play the official Jubilee tune.
