A full house – including a newly-wed couple – enjoyed the craic at an Inverness hoolie which raised £500 for a Gaelic cultural centre in Inverness.

The free event at the Highlander bar in Church Street drew in locals as well as visitors from further afield.

Donations were also collected for Cultarlann Inbhir Nis which aims to create a centre for locals, Gaelic speakers, learners, visitors and all those with an interest in the language and culture to meet.

The hoolie had a tartan and tweed theme with a prize for the best dressed.

But one couple, Chloe and Michael Brandon, turned up in the wedding outfits having married at Inverness Town House earlier.

General manager Lloyd Gallon said: "Ceilidh tunes from Tartan Paint evolved into a fun-filled night of great music and company.

"Guests from all walks of life enjoyed the craic and even the wedding reception from next door decided to come in and have a dance."
