A new £5.5 million care home for the Black Isle is now just weeks from welcoming its first residents.

Operators Parklands Care Homes has confirmed the new care home, named Eilean Dubh, will open in Fortrose during the week commencing March 15.

The final touches are now being made to the 40-bed facility, built by construction firm CHAP and designed by Inverness based architects CRGP Limited.

Eilean Dubh is Parklands’ biggest single investment to date, and will be the group’s ninth care home.

Ron Taylor, managing director of Parklands Care Homes, said: “Eilean Dubh has been built against the backdrop of a global pandemic which has been a huge logistical challenge for everyone involved. I want to thank the construction and design teams for their efforts over the past year and I am delighted that we will soon be welcoming our first residents in just a matter of weeks.

“Eilean Dubh certainly has the wow factor and we can’t wait to open our doors to the wider community once safety regulations allow. It has taken a huge effort to get this project off the ground and we would never have succeeded without the grit and determination of the many local individuals and community groups who supported us. I hope this is a facility they can be proud of.”
