PICTURES: New Dingwall football team hit the target with pre-season fundraiser

A new formed amateur football team from Dingwall are already on the winning trail after raising over £1100 at an event last month.

Mallard FC, supported by The Mallard bar and National Hotel owners, Diogo and Patricia Monteiro and Raffael Santos and sponsored by Scizzor Sisters Hairdressers, plan to join the Inverness & District amateur second division next summer, with their season starting in April.

Players have been training hard every Wednesday at Conon Bridge using the primary school pitches, as manager Liam Watson, owner of Ross Shire Painters and his number two, Scott Gardiner, aim to build a team ready for the new campaign.

Off the field, organisers got off to a great start by holding a Race Night and Pool, Darts and Doms competition in the National Hotel.

A crowd of almost 200 people turned up to support the event, which also featured a live set from Ness Factor Winner, Joanne Ross and her band, John B's Daughter.

Norman Ross from Strathpeffer, was declared a worth winner on the night, taking home £100 in prize money with second prize going to Scott Gardiner Jnr.
