PICTURES: Drag stars Miss Lossie Mouth and Venus Guytrap delight care home residents at Eilean Dubh in Fortrose and Urray House in Muir of Ord in Parklands Pride showcase
TWO Ross-shire care homes were bursting with pride at the weekend as they played host spectacular drag queens.
Miss Lossie Mouth and Venus Guytrap performed at Eilean Dubh in Fortrose and Urray House in Muir of Ord as part of Parklands Pride, a series of inclusive events taking place at Parklands’ care homes across the Highlands and Moray.
Dozens of residents, relatives and staff were treated to 80 minutes of entertainment as Miss Lossie Mouth brought to life the Judy and Liza Story, performing classic songs from The Wizard of Oz, Meet Me in St Louis, Cabaret and New York, New York.

Meanwhile Venus Guytrap delivered a medley of hits from legendary artists such as Frank Sinatra, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston and Shirley Bassey.
Donald Morrison, director of communications for Parklands Care Homes, said: “Parklands Pride is a celebration of life and love and it has been really touching to see the positive reaction from residents, relatives and staff. For residents especially, these songs bring back many happy memories and it’s lovely to watch them sing along and dance. We’re so grateful to Miss Lossie Mouth and Venus Guytrap for bringing their shows to our care homes; it’s been a fun, moving and thought-provoking experience.”
The shows have won praise from drag royalty, with Michelle Visage, a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race tweeting her support for Parklands Pride to her 650,000 followers, describing it as “gorgeous”.
Parklands Pride concludes this weekend when Innis Mhor in Tain hosts the final show.
Parklands will also sponsor Highland Pride and Pride in Moray this year.
