VITAL efforts to reverse a collapse in the number of wildflower meadows in the Highlands won support from residents in Aultbea and Gairloch last week.

High Life Highland's countryside rangers have ambitious plans to create more than 60 new wildflower meadows across the region this year.

Last week saw them begin work in several Ross-shire communities, with Dingwall and Kinlochewe among them.

And on Thursday they then turned their attentions to the Wester Ross communities of Aultbea and Gairloch.

New pictures supplied by the countryside rangers show efforts to create the beds for the wildflowers at the Aird in Aultbea and outside Gairloch Community Hall.

Further communities will also be joining in with the efforts this week, with Ullapool up next tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday) and North Kessock getting in on the conservation work on Wednesday morning.
