PICTURES: Final journey of Highland businessman Trevor Nicol laid to rest after cortege passes old corner shop

A two-minute silence was held after the last journey of a popular Highland businessman.
Known for his kindness to customers and his support of the local community, Trevor Nicol was laid to rest yesterday.
Mr Nicol, who died on November 8 after a short illness, was the owner of Nicol's Corner Shop which had been in the family for generations, and can trace its history back for 100 years.
A funeral service was held in D. Chisholm & Sons’ Funeral Home on Huntly Street, Inverness and while making its way to Tomnahurich Cemetery, the cortege passed by Mr Nicol's former shop.
Donations were invited to be given to Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland in his memory.
As his funeral cortège made its way from Grant Street, mourners who had lined the street fell silent to remember Mr Nicol.
69-year-old Mr Nicol was known in the city for his compassion and kindness to the people of Merkinch and The Ferry, and many took to social media to pay their respects to him.
Family friend Billy Corbett said: "He was a Inverness legend, everyone knew Trevor, and he was a champion of the Merkinch.
"People went into Nicol's Corner Shop, on Grant Street, whether that be for boots or overalls for work, or my mother going in for net curtains, or whatever.
"Everybody was the same, and if anyone said they were looking or needing something, it was always, 'Nicol's will have it, go and see Trevor' and he was so accommodating to everyone, and such a nice and friendly guy, like his father who ran the shop before him.
"I personally knew him too, through my connections with Clachnacuddin Football Club, as quite often he would purchase an advertisement in our match programme or take an advertisement board for Nicols at our ground on Grant Street Park.
"He was just so helpful to everyone in the Merkinch community and beyond, and there's no doubt.
"Merkinch has lost a true champion. Thoughts with Susan and all of the family."
