In our continuing countdown to Christmas, we take a look back at a head-turning school initiative staged in Dingwall last year,

The good folk of Dingwall could have been forgiven for thinking Christmas had come early when they looked out their windows to see hundreds of Santa hats bobbing round the streets.

The festive fun run staged at Dingwall Academy saw around 900 pupils step out.

Head teacher Karen Cormack said at the time: “We were really fortunate with the weather and over 900 pupils took part – it led to some very strange looks around the town. it’s the first time we have done this but hopefully it will become an annual event.”

For the record, first over the line for the boys was Danny McPake followed by Alex Ellen and Sam Christman. Morag Hickey was the first girl to finish. She was followed by Amy Georgeson and Anna Beveridge.
