As we're facing a very different festive season this year, we decided to take a look back at seasonal pictures and stories from previous years by way of a countdown to Christmas.

We're be sharing something every day so keep an eye open for faces you may know. Who knows? You may even spot yourself in one of the pictures we publish.

Feel free to share our Christmas Countdown articles on social media and don't forget to like, share, retweet and tag your friends. The idea is to spread a bit of cheer as we look to bounce back after a year like no other.

Day 8 – Kyle RNLI Santa's Grotto - whatever the weather!

KYLE of Lochalsh’s RNLI lifeboat crew are well used to handling tough conditions at sea providing a life-saving service around the clock.

That training would have stood them in good stead for one of their biggest annual fundraising drives at the weekend as a Santa’s Grotto event on Saturday was hit by heavy rainfall.

Yet thanks to a typically strong community response, the team still managed to haul in £1000 thanks to the support of visitors despite “atrocious” weather. Lots of families shrugged off the weather and donned Christmas jumpers to visit Santa at the lifeboat station.
