The car wash in the village square was organised by a competitor in this year’s Ness Factor singing competition.

Gregor Matheson (43) said: “It was absolutely fabulous and it was a good turn out. There was lots of help from the community.”

The self-employed car mechanic and single dad said the car wash raised £1842 over two days.

A further fundraising day is also planned to be held in Muir of Ord Village Hall on Friday, October 28 from 10am.

As well as Mr Matheson, the other finalists in this year’s Ness Factor competition are Stephen Laurie, Lisa Gray, Jennifer Urquhart, Fiona Clark, Donna Fraser, Andrew Gill, Caitlin Farquhar and Moira Black.

They are all hoping to sing their way to stardom at this year’s charity show next month – the winner will take home a prize of a performance slot at next year’s Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.
