Traffic is now moving on the A9 near Tomatin after fire crews put out a car fire.

The northbound carriageway is open although the southbound carriage remains restricted and there are delays.

No one was injured in the incident which was reported just before 12.30pm.

A motorist who saw the fire crews arrive said the car was well alight.

"The flames were engulfing the whole of the car," he said.

He said the incident also resulted in long tailbacks.

Two crews from Inverness went to the scene and used two sets of breathing apparatus and three hose reel jets.

Police officers were also called to the scene.
