A BREAKFAST club gathering in Easter Ross got the weekend off to a great start for those attending the special event.

The Alness and Invergordon Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club was started back in March 2019 and had just marked its first anniversary as the first Covid-19 lockdown was imposed.

It offers a social meeting place for armed forces veterans of any age and to the blue light services.

Saturday's social event was staged at Milton Wood Men's Shed and offered an opportunity for both groups to spread the word about what they can offer members.

Organiser Trish Foster said: "It went very well. It was a pretty good turnout and it was nice to see people. There's a nice sense of camaraderie. It also gives the men's shed a bit of a lift. They make some beautiful stuff and do a lot for the community too."

The next gathering will be a lunchtime event at the Station Hotel in Alness and is planned for October 16 at noon.
