BOOKWORMS on the Black Isle certainly got stuck into the reading habit over the summer holidays.

A total of 120 children completed this year’s Summer Reading Challenge at Fortrose and Cromarty Libraries and were delighted to receive their medals and certificates at an enjoyable ceremony in Fortrose Academy Theatre.

Aged between four and 12 the children all live in the Black Isle – hailing mainly from Munlochy, Avoch, Rosemarkie and Cromarty. They read a staggering 720 books between them. Present to award the medals was Black Isle councillor, Jennifer Barclay. The library also welcomed Alison Parfitt, engagement curator at Inverness Museum and Gallery. She brought an original newspaper covering the moon landings which was very popular with all ages.
