Fun and friendship were enjoyed by more 300 members of Girlguiding in Inverness-shire at a day-long event.

Activities at Cawdor Carnival ranged from the chance to have a go at being a DJ to learning about the hazards on a farm.

The event took place at Cawdor Community Centre and School.

It was attended by 281 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers, and Young Leaders, covering an age range of four to 18 years, plus 52 leaders.

They came from Cawdor, Balloch, Cradlehall, Methodist, Culduthel Christian Centre, Inshes, Milton of Leys, Grantown, Acharacle, Fort William, Kilmallie, Nairn, Smithton, Rosebank, Lochardil and Crown units.

Hospital Radio played the sound track and invited the girls to try DJing, Toe 2 toe Dance provided dance sessions and Wester Cairnglass Farm educated the girls on the hazards of farms.

Scottish Exotic Animal Rescue brought along reptiles and Trots of Fun provided two ponies for Rainbows to ride.

There were also bouncy castles and slides, glitter tattoos and balloon sculptures and demonstrations about the importance of bees.

Inverness Trefoil Guild served teas for leaders.

Suzanne Docherty, county commissioner for Inverness-shire, thanked all the volunteers who planned and made the day happen.

She said it was made possible thanks to a grant from the Friends of Nethrurd Fund which was set up following the sale of Netherurd House in West Linton formerly the main activity centre for Scottish GirlGuiding.
