Friends of a Ross-shire woman who died last year had a special party and installed a handmade bench in her memory.

The event was organised by Blooming Gardeners, based at the former Green Wellie Garden Centre in Barbaraville, a therapeutic gardening project which helps adults with learning disabilities enjoy and develop their awareness of horticulture and nature.

The bench was created in memory of Cass MacDonald with the “wee get together” taking place last Friday with plenty of food, music, and fun.

Fiona Grant, one of the horticultural trainers at Blooming Gardeners, said: “We had our party on Friday for Cass, who passed away. Her family were so delighted.”

The bench was made by Michael Robertson from Tain and Ian Graham, who is Mr Robertson’s support worker, said they could not have completed the task without the help of the Cromarty Firth Men’s Shed.

He said: “I think it’s great, it’s fantastic, the group is the only thing here for the guys. They can get together and meet their peer group. It’s a big asset for the area.”
