PICS: Sandcastle competition at Rosemarkie beach on the Black Isle in the Highlands attracts dozens of entries

Visitors and locals built a wide variety of sandcastles and other sculptures in the fun summer competition.

There were more than 25 entries for this year’s annual outing of the competition organised by Rosemarkie Amenities Association.

The group's Iain Sime said: “A really impressive and imaginative range of sandcastles adorned Rosemarkie’s popular beach on Sunday afternoon.

“The dry weather and low tide attracted more than 25 entries to the annual sandcastle competition in front of the beach café.

“Within an hour the beach hosted vistas across the Nile, as well as a multitude of elaborate and tall fortifications, several Nessies, volcanoes and bridges.
