A permanent Post Office is to open in Ross-shire next month.

It will be at Seaboard Memorial Hall, in East Street, in Balintore near Tain, where a temporary facility is already running.

The current set up was put in place following the resignation of the former operator of the old Post Office in Main Street.

The postmaster for Alness is currently providing the temporary service on a Monday and Friday morning work towards a permanent solution was found.

This will cease on Monday, March 14, at noon.

The new operator is the Seaboard Memorial Hall Ltd which is a community-run company that already operates a café and community facilities at the hall.

The new permanent Post Office will be alongside the café and will open on Thursday, March 17, at 9am.

The new opening hours will be Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm, and it will be far more convenient for customers to visit.

David Duff, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We are delighted to have a permanent solution for Balintore.

"We thank Seaboard Memorial Hall for providing the premises since the branch inside the CJ Lang store closed.

"We appreciate the postmaster for Alness providing a temporary service until Seaboard Memorial Hall Ltd was able to provide a permanent solution.”
