Celebrations to mark 10 years trading for a Cromarty cheese emporium aim to involve the whole community.
Jon and Emmy Palmer, owners of The Cromarty Cheese House, want to “honour creativity in all its forms” with events next weekend which kick off with a mini tour of Jon’s theatre production The Riot of Resolis.
A retelling of a local story from 1843 it combines recorded voices, original live music and life-size puppets made by Cromarty residents.
The show was originally conceived for the Cromarty Crime and Thrillers Weekend in 2019 but due to Covid did not premiere until May this year where the audience response suggested a revival was in order.
Beginning at Resolis Memorial Hall on Thursday, October 27 there will also be performances at Findon Hall, Culbokie on October 28 and Victoria Hall, Cromarty on October 29.
The performances at Resolis and Culbokie will include an after-show discussion about the themes and techniques of the production while the “homecoming” event will culminate in a celebratory party.
All profits from ticket sales will be donated to local good causes. The
fun does not end there, though, as on Sunday, October 30 Cromarty plays host to the mini arts festival Gluren bij de Buren – “Peeking on the neighbours”.
The concept is borrowed from the Netherlands and centres on performances in people’s living rooms.
It will be possible to visit up to six different performances around Cromarty on Sunday afternoon, with admission free to all though donations are welcome.
