SIXTEEN volunteer members of a Ross-shire mountain rescue team responded to a late night alert after a walker was reported overdue from an expedition into the hills.

The Thursday evening alert centred on the hills to the north of Loch Mullardoch, a reservoir in Glen Cannich.

The alarm was raised with the Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team.

Sixteen team members attended and at around 3am the walker was found safe and well near Loch Mullardoch.

The team said that after a warm up and some hot juice and a couple of chocolate bars "he was found to be in good fettle". The group posted later: "He had all the right gear for a winter's day, just the winter's day had been a little tough."
