Organisers are looking for entries for the fourth Sneckie Insomnia soccer event in Inverness in June.

They will raise funds for both Children’s Hospices Across Scotland’s CHAS at Home service and Save the Children Ukraine fund.

Organised annually by the Inverness Business Fives Group, the popular overnight five-a-side tournament has raised more than £60,000 for CHAS since 2018.

This year’s event will be held outdoors for the first time, kicking off at Highland Rugby, in Canal Park, on Saturday, June, 18 from 7pm.

As well as the main tournament there will be children’s football competitions and games held in the afternoon from 1pm to 5pm, organised by a local representative from the Scottish Football Association.

Sneckie organiser, Frank Gaskell from the Inverness Business Fives Group, said “We’re delighted to be hosting our fourth Sneckie Insomnia event.

"We aim to bring football enthusiasts of all ages and fitness levels together to play the game they love; with the added privilege of raising much needed funds to support CHAS as well as the children of Ukraine.

"In our first three years, all money raised went to CHAS but when we first suggested that we split this year’s funds with the Save the Children Ukraine fund, CHAS, to their great credit, without a moment’s hesitation, agreed.

“We are seeking as many sign-ups as possible for this important event to help us reach our funding target of £20,000 – money much needed to support the fantastic things CHAS do – and also the children of Ukraine.”

CHAS currently supports more than 20 children with life-shortening conditions and their families in Inverness and the Highlands and Moray areas.

The charity’s community fundraiser, Ruathy Donald, said: “The Sneckie Insomnia Soccer is a fantastic community event run by the generous members of Inverness Business Fives and we are delighted the fourth event is taking place in CHAS’s 30th anniversary year.

“All the money raised through sponsorship and donations will go towards helping CHAS provide vital care and to support families in the Highlands and also help children so desperately in need in Ukraine so we hope as many people as possible sign up for this fantastic event.”
