The first online directory for food and drink experiences across the Highlands has been launched.

Giving visitors access to a one stop shop to over 250 producers, the Highland Food and Drink website includes Michelin star dining to top beach café spots, distillery experiences and producer tours. It has been created by Highland Tourism CIC with funding support from membership organisation Scotland Food & Drink.

Samantha Faircliff, managing director at Cairngorm Brewery and Highland food tourism ambassador for Scotland Food & Drink said: "We are excited about our vibrant tourism sector which continues its bounce back from the pandemic and in particular our network of world class food and drink experiences. Challenges remain, but there are many grounds for positivity.

"Our new website is the first online food and drink directory to ever be created for the Highlands. It will make it easy for visitors to explore the wonderful range of food experiences we have to showcase across the region.

"And they will be able to make conscious decisions about where they travel to, how they might do that, and whether food and drink outlets meet with their own values. The website will be a valuable resource all year round but will be available to use at a useful time with the official summer season starting in a month. This has all been made possible by generous project funding from Scotland Food & Drink."

The new food and drink platform delivers details on geographical location, contacts, a breakdown of producers by food types, and is all linked to a care and understanding of the region's high-quality environment.

Yvonne Crook, Highland Tourism CIC chairwoman, said: “Our food and drink offering in the Highlands is legendary. So much more than the amazing array of whiskies being produced, our larder is rich with phenomenal produce and our food and drink community boasts spectacular experiences created by some of the most passionate and skilled people in the industry.

"We are delighted that our showcase website is now live, making it easier for our visitors to inspire their taste buds’, and see for themselves the spectacular food and drink landscape we have to offer. And we look forward to continuing to expand the range of experiences, distilleries and producers we are showcasing.

"We are delighted with the support of Scotland Food & Drink and our founding sponsor Tomatin Distillery. Their joint backing has enabled this showcase to be developed and we look forward to continuing to build on it so that our visitors can see for themselves the spectacular food and drink landscape we have to offer."

Stephen Bremner, managing director of Tomatin Distillery added: “This site is an excellent example of why we’ve provided such substantial financial investment in the work of Highland Tourism CIC. This new directory website showcases so much of what is great about the food and drink sector in the region.

"It provides information for visitors and businesses that want to source world class products and ingredients. Perhaps above all, it is community-driven and totally in keeping with our own goals and values for sustainability and the environment. Highland Tourism CIC get things done and this chimes with our own approach. We look forward to seeing the success of this new website and how our support will help to bring other projects to fruition.”
