THERE has been a fresh case of Covid-19 confirmed in the NHS Highland area since yesterday.

Official figures reveal that NHS Highland has now recorded 340 positive tests since the pandemic began.

Seven of those who have tested positive were receiving hospital treatment at midnight last night.

Only 18 positive tests were recorded across Scotland as a whole, which has now had 15,639 confirmed cases since the outbreak began.

And, for the second day running, no new deaths were recorded in Scotland amongst those who are confirmed as having the virus.

Of the 15,639 people who tested positive for Covid-19, some 655 were in Scottish hospitals last night – 16 of whom were in intensive care.

Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were again no new positive tests for the coronavirus in Shetland, Orkney or Eileanan Siar's health board areas.

NHS Grampian has had 1286 positive tests since the outbreak began, with 60 of those receiving treatment in hospital.

And NHS Tayside has recorded 1677 confirmed cases of the virus since its first diagnosis. Seven of those people were receiving hospital treatment at midnight last night.
