A Nairn pensioner has denied charges of exposing himself on the town's East Beach several times dating back to 2010.

Robert Ross (78) of Merryton Crescent, appeared in person at Inverness Sheriff Court before Sheriff Sara Matheson.

He pleaded not guilty to an alleged offence of public indecency on September 10, 2010 when he exposed himself to a couple.

He also denied that on April 17, 2019, he again exposed himself to a man and a woman and on June 25, 2020 he performed a sex act in front of another couple at the same location.

A fourth charge alleged that he exposed himself to two women on July 8, 2020.

An intermediate diet, which establishes prosecution and defence readiness for trial, was fixed for March 16 next year with trial on April 12. Ross was released on bail but banned from going near Nairn's East Beach.

The court appearance follows a police appeal after reports of a man indecently exposing himself there.
