CREATIVE activities inspired by the humble twig are are on offer at the National Trust for Scotland’s Lochalsh Woodland Park in Wester Ross tomorrow (Tuesday).

From crafting endeavours – creating a picture within a frame, making wooden jewellery, to outdoor pursuits like tracking, building mini-shelters and even campfire cooking, the stick is at the centre of these sessions which run from 10am and 2pm at Balmacara Square.

Gavin Skipper, the trust’s ranger at Balmacara Estate, said: "Join us for a host of family-friendly activities. We will be using the woodland setting to inspire, make and create natural art. There will also be an opportunity to explore the forest and to develop those bushcraft skills.

"Towards the end of each session we will do some fire lighting and camp fire cooking. Try toasting some marshmallows and baking your own damper bread. The event is suitable for all ages but younger children must be accompanied by an adult."

Cost: children £2 and adults free.
