A pay and display machine has been put in place at site in Inverness city centre that has been used by many in recent weeks.

For weeks, motorists had been leaving vehicles in the area beside Rose Street multi-storey car park without being charged.

It is not known when charges will be introduced, but when the man installing the machine was asked, he said: "Now."

He also explained that monitoring of the site indicated around 100 motorists had used the area by 10am each day this week.

The site was previously a two-storey car park which was demolished to make way for a hotel.
