MORE than a quarter of all residents at a care home have passed away since a Covid-19 outbreak first hit it.
A ninth resident is reported to have died at the Home Farm care home on Portree.
Some 30 of the home's 34 residents and 29 of the staff have tested positive for Covid-19 since the coronavirus outbreak first struck at the site at the end of April.
The fallout from the coronavirus hotspot has since sparked legal action from the Care Inspectorate to remove the care home operator's registration to run the site after an unannounced inspection uncovered "serious" issues.
And, this evening, Highland Council announced the launch of a new advice leaflet aimed at highlighting the support available to the Skye community as they try to deal with the outbreak.
The local authority said it had put a number of measures in place to help people in the Portree community who had been affected by the global pandemic.
The leaflet includes advice on everything from how to get access to food and prescriptions, to help with welfare benefits and financial support.
It it being distributed to staff, residents and their families.
