NO fresh positive tests for Covid-19 have been recorded in the NHS Highland area for the past six days.

The region's running total of confirmed coronavirus cases remained static at 377 when the latest daily update was published at 2pm.

However, there were 17 positive tests recorded across Scotland as a whole, and there were newly-confirmed cases in the other two mainland health boards operating in the north of Scotland.

NHS Grampian recorded one new case - to take its overall number of cases since the start of the outbreak to 1433 – while NHS Tayside registered three new positive tests. It has now seen 1778 confirmed cases.

Orkney, Shetland and Eileanan Siar all went another day without any fresh positive tests for the virus.

Nationally, there have been 18.401 positive tests since the start of the pandemic, and 2491 of those people have died. The latter figure was unchanged since yesterday's update.

The number of people who tested positive who were receiving hospital treatment last night was down on the same point the previous day– falling from 320 to 316. Three of those patients were in intensive care.
