THE North Coast 500 is set to star on TV screens across the globe this week ¬– when The Grand Tour’s new series hits Amazon Prime’s streaming service.

The blockbuster driving show hosted by former Top Gear trio Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May returns to screens on Friday.

The show, which costs a reputed £4.5 million per episode to produce, is the most expensive series ever made by Amazon Prime and is one of its biggest hits, attracting legions of viewers.

And the 516-mile circuit of the North Coast 500 will feature in the new run after the trio were filmed during their travels round it last spring.

Indeed, the route is likely to be one of the highlights of the new series – after a segment of the trio driving across the Kylesku Bridge in an Alfa Romeo GTV6, Lancia Gamma Coupe and a Fiat X119 featured prominently in the trailer.

Plenty of other Inverness-shire, Ross-shire, Sutherland and Caithness locations are also expected to feature, with Tain, Invergordon, Inverness and Golspie among the numerous locations where people spotting the trio filming segments for the show.

The latter’s Littleferry race track is also expected to feature at some point too.

Business figures are predicting a boost to the North Coast 500’s global profile as a result of its appearance in the lastest series.

Speaking during the trio’s visit last spring, David Richardson, a development manager at the Federation of Small Businesses Highland, said: “It will attract more interest in the Highlands as a whole and businesses will be quick to take advantage of this and give tourists the best possible experience.”
