IT was the end of an era for Dingwall and District Accordion and Fiddle Club when it held its final performance in its traditional home ahead of moving to a new venue.

The club has entertained audience members in Dingwall’s National Hotel for 30 years, and it is where many traditional musicians in Dingwall and district learned their craft.

But this month the club held its final performance in the hotel’s Seaforth Rooms before the move to its new venue in The Legion Club in the High Street.

Club compere Ian Simpson welcomed a large audience of members, friends and players of all ages to the club’s final musical evening in the Seaforth Rooms before the move.

Opening the evening were some of the regular local players – Alex Mackenzie on accordion, George Mackintosh on piano and Maggie Jamieson on the drums.

As there were so many local and surprise guest players, they were asked to play two sets.

Some also travelled from as far afield as Lochcarron to mark the occasion and catch up with fellow musicians and friends.

One surprise guest was Fraser Donaldson (10) who played piano.

Guest artiste Lyndsey Weir was another surprise, who welcomed her band, Colin Garvin (piano), Gemma Donald (Shetland fiddle), Alan Small and Alan Irvine (drums).

There were many other performers on the night as well.
