The Ross, Skye and Lochaber MP is the latest to call out the Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the rule breaking lockdown party in Downing Street.

Speaking during the Prime Ministers Questions, the SNP Westminster Leader accused the Prime Minster of "taking the public for fools".

He continued, telling Tory MPs to "show him the door.

“Over the past few days, we've had more damaging revelations about Downing Street rule-breaking, more evidence that Parliament has been misled, and an ever-longer list of ludicrous - absolutely ludicrous - excuses from the Prime Minister.

“The Prime Minister is taking the public for fools. No one believes him. When will he finally take responsibility and resign?”

Mr Blackford joins Scottish Conservative leader Douglass Ross in the call for resignation since details emerged of the shocking event.

The allegation's stem from a video showing Downing Street staff drinking wine in the famous garden, whilst the rest of the country were living under harsh coronavirus related restrictions.

Mr Johnson publicly apologised for the event but insisted he thought it was within the rules.

Mr Blackford continued with his outrage: “I’m afraid no one is buying the act any more. The fake contrition. The endless excuses. The empty promises that it’ll all be different - if only we give him one last chance.

“This is a prime minister who arrogantly believes he is above the rules. A prime minister who brazenly twists the truth. A prime minister who simply isn’t fit for office.

“The prime minister’s former chief adviser has said he lied to Parliament, breaking the ministerial code - a resignation offence. Public trust is haemorrhaging. With each day that passes, the Tory government loses even more credibility. When will Tory MPs do the only decent thing and show him the door?”
