Highland Heroes has been hailed as an important event for the people of the region.

Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey MP Drew Hendry was among around 250 people at the event in the Kingsmills Hotel last night.

He said: "This is a really important event. We have fantastic people doing fantastic things across the Highlands. They never ask for recognition. They never seek it. So it's really important that events like this give them the opportunity to get that recognition.

"In my view, there is no better event than the Highland Heroes.

"It's really hard to keep a cap on your emotions when you hear not only the inspiring things people are doing but the trauma some are having to deal with. The way people reach out to each other across the community and the sheer hard work that some people put into the causes that mean the most to them is just really inspiring."
